Trump Didn’t Win the Nobel Peace Prize — But He’s Not Out of the Game

“Opinion”

Maria Corina Machado from Venezuela took the honor this year.

But Trump’s name still echoes in the global debate about peace, power, and free speech.

The news about the Nobel Peace Prize came out earlier today. Donald Trump didn’t win it. Instead, it went to Maria Corina Machado from Venezuela — a woman who has risked her life to fight for democracy.

I follow the news every day, and still, I had never even heard of her before today. That says a lot — not about her, but about how unpredictable the world has become. I can’t say I was surprised, but I’ll admit, I raised an eyebrow.

Because let’s be honest: Trump did stop the war between Hamas and Israel. That’s not a small thing. You don’t have to like the man to recognize the impact. But somehow, he was skipped again.

What happens next? No one really knows. These next few days will tell us a lot — about politics, peace, and maybe about the kind of world we actually want to live in.

The case for Trump — and the war that’s still burning

Trump stopped the war. That alone makes this moment even more interesting. And if he somehow manages to stop the war between Russia and Ukraine? Well, then the Nobel Committee will have a very hard time looking the other way.

You can love him or hate him — both are fair. But if peace is what we truly value, we can’t deny results.

Democracy — maybe on borrowed time

We still live in a democracy. At least for now.
And I think that’s something we take for granted. Because being able to think freely, to speak your mind, to disagree without tearing each other apart — that’s the real gift.

You can have opinions, you can debate, you can challenge power — all without turning cruel. Freedom of speech doesn’t mean freedom to insult.

That’s what worries me sometimes: how fast respect disappears when emotions take over. We’re so busy being right that we forget to be human. I know – “Trump never holds back. And I don’t like it — But – if he just toned it down a little, showed some humility, he’d be the king! But somehow, the MAGA crowd and Trump don’t get it.

And before anyone asks — no, I won’t say which side I’m on politically. You can wonder, you can guess, but I’m not answering. That’s not the point here.

The bigger picture

Maybe Trump didn’t get the Nobel this time. But his influence isn’t fading — it’s evolving. The world is restless, shifting, waiting for someone to do what no one else dares: end wars, fix economies, talk peace with conviction.

And whether we like it or not, Trump still believes he’s that person.

History, as always, will decide the rest.
